Where to start with Complementary Medicine.

People who are new to the field of complementary medicine are sometimes concerned about the range of choices open to them.

Complementary medicine is going through the same changes as many other aspects of life: supermarkets now offer thousands of products from all over the world, G.P.’s choose from a huge range of drugs where once there were very few. Products and ideas now come from all over the world, and any idea that is new and effective is quickly developed in many different ways. This applies as much to ways of healing and helping people as in other areas.

The increase in worldwide travel and communication is also leading to a greater acceptance of new ideas about health, and a general increase in standards and understanding as therapists’ organisations develop international networks.

One of our aims at the Centre is to give clients the opportunity to benefit from these exciting developments, and to help each person to choose the most appropriate approach or approaches.
After reading through the website you can discuss your needs with a therapist, our receptionists or friends with experience of complementary medicine and you will probably find a number of approaches that could help you. From your shortlist you should be able to select the approach or approaches that you feel most comfortable with.

Be aware that many forms of treatment require several sessions to start showing their effectiveness. Many therapies also work with the whole person – do not be surprised if you begin to feel generally better, or if minor symptoms disappear before the problem which initially led you to approach us.

Make sure that the therapist is available at times that suit you. Working with more than one therapy can often be beneficial. Remember that one of the best investments that you can make in complementary medicine is in finding approaches which keep you healthy!
