Here is what Helen has to say about acupuncture.

Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture is an effective therapy based on thousands of years observation of cause and effect and is backed up by scientific research. These days’ people will often be referred for acupuncture by medical professionals when conventional treatments are not working and those people often say they wish they had tried it first!

Acupuncture is suitable for a range of conditions. Some of the most commonly treated are headaches and migraine, arthritis, back pain, digestive problems, sports injuries, infertility, menopausal and menstrual issues, anxiety, stress-related problems and many more. It is not necessary to have a diagnosis to receive acupuncture. This is because TCM works on the basis of typical underlying patterns that produce symptoms and aims to restore equilibrium in the body to relieve those symptoms and bring the body & mind back to optimum health. Most people who receive acupuncture additionally tend to report improvements in their sleep, general wellbeing and ability to relax.

About Helen

I am often asked how I came to be an acupuncturist. There are probably two main reasons: I am also a Yoga teacher and both acupuncture and yoga have their basis in energy movement. I felt that I wanted to go further to be able to assist people more with this and decided that acupuncture was the most thorough system of energy medicine with research to back it up. The second reason is that my Mum swore by it, so the theory and practice were proven!

A Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncturist has to complete at least a three year degree in Acupuncture – I qualified in 2009 and have been practising ever since. I am a member of and insured by the British Acupuncture Council, the largest professional body of acupuncturists in the UK.

I have also spent time in Harbin, China attached to two different hospitals where I observed the work of the Chinese acupuncture doctors there. Besides keeping my skills and knowledge up to date throughout my career, I have found that my patients are often the best source of learning and reinforcement of the effectiveness of acupuncture.

Having recently moved to Suffolk, I also have a clinic in Essex, and previously provided acupuncture cover at a local fertility clinic there. Whilst I regularly treat a range of conditions, my specialisms tend to be fertility, women’s health and emotional health generally.

I am also a menopause yoga teacher, life coach and have a background in people skills development. As a yoga teacher, I am also able to support treatment with appropriate exercises/practices.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking, cycling and spending time in nature. I also love to travel, read and sing in no particular order!

I look forward to sharing acupuncture with you soon.
