My Journey From Airline Staff To Holistic Therapist by Donna Walker
June 10th, 2020
Whilst supporting my mum through her cancer journey in the year 2000, we discovered there was a dedicated holistic health centre located within her treatment hospital. The centre offered holistic therapies to patients undergoing cancer treatment, this holistic approach was ground breaking for its time, especially when you consider this was 20+ years ago!
Whilst seated in the waiting room, waiting for my mum to return from her therapy, I was able to observe several patients emerge from their therapy sessions, I noticed that each and every patient looked taller, lighter and brighter.
I was moved to tears, when I saw this transformation within mum. I simply knew, in that very pivotal moment, that I needed to train in holistic therapies. I now knew, with every cell in my body what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. This meant a complete career change, which was very different from my previous and enjoyable 10 years in the Airline industry!
So the learning began, initially with Anatomy & Physiology, Swedish Body Massage then Reflexology, Aromatherapy and Sports Massage.
In 2002 I was awarded ‘Student of the Year’ and started my own business, initially working from home and I’ve never looked back.
My passion for leaning has enabled me to continue to grow and develop my knowledge and disciplines and qualify in the additional therapies; Reiki, BNT (Balance Nutrition & Toxicity) Kinesiology, IH (Integrated Healing) and RESET (Rafferty Energy System of Easing the Temporomandibular Joint.)
I believe a true holistic approach is being able to tailor a treatment to the client’s specific needs; physically, emotionally and energetically. It is often the case, that a combination of skills are required, making each treatment unique to that client’s individual needs.
I feel so blessed to work in partnership with client’s supporting and improving their health and empowering them to regain control and responsibility for their health going forwards. It never feels like work to me, it is simply a joy.
