Aromatherapy Oil of the Month – December – Frankincense

December 04th, 2017

As it is December, I am going to break away from my a-z of oils and write about one of my seasonal favourites, Frankincense.  I did write about this last Christmas but it is the season and its a wonderful oil so I am going to sing its praises again.

Frankincense has a lovely musky, earthy smell.  It is a wonderful background smell to burn in a diffuser.  It helps people breathe more easily as it encourages better working of the lungs so I always consider using it in blends for asthmatics or smokers.

Frankincense is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, a sedative and an expectorant amongst other things.  I have personally used it with great effect on an annoying and long-term cough that I had been experiencing.

Frankincense blends well with cinnamon (very christmassy), basil, pepper, sandalwood and other spicy scents.  It is native to the Red Sea region and grows wild throughout North East Africa.

I would like to wish you all a truly fabulous and festive Christmas Season and big love for the New Year and 2018.
